Breakfast at hotel

Morning proceed by road to Agra, on arrival check in at hotel.

Agra, situated on the banks of Yamuna river, came into limelight during the rule of Afghan King Sikandar Lodhi - who had made it the capital of his empire. Later in 1526 A.D., the Mughal Emperor Babar took upon himself the task for rendering Agra, a unique character and beauty of its own. The next few hundred years of Agra witnessed the rise of the pomp and pageantry of three great Mughal monarchs - Emperor Akbar, Jehangir and Shahjahan. In modern times, the city of Agra is a thriving carpet industry where you can also find leather workers; sandstone and marble sculptors, some of whom claim to be direct descendants of the craftsmen who had helped build the Taj Mahal.

Afternoon visit to the majestic Red fort of Agra and during sunset view the world-famous Taj Mahal – a symbol of love (Taj mahal remains closed on Friday). It took around 22 years for 20,000 artisans to complete this poignant mausoleum that blends subtlety with grandeur, and a massive overall design with immaculately intricate execution.

Morning proceed by road to Jaipur en-route visiting the magnificent fortified ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri - built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 as his capital and abandoned 15 years later, allegedly due to a severe scarcity of water. It is a place where Islamic architecture fuses with Hindu and Jain decorative art.
After your visit continue drive to Jaipur, on arrival check in at hotel.

Jaipur (City of Victory) was founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 1727. It is the only city in the world symbolizing the nine divisions of the Universe through nine rectangular sectors sub-dividing it. The architect who formalized the city’s plans on the Shilpa Shastra, the epic Hindu treatise on architecture, mixed it with the sublimity of the Mughal and Jain influences of those times. The city was painted pink in 1853 in honour of the visit by Prince Albert. Except for the busy traffic of bicycles, cars and buses, little seems to have changed.

VARANASI’s antiquity, like its spirituality, is shrouded in immortal time. Puranic and other ancient literature dates its existence to at least 3,000 years ago. Life in the Varanasi of today revolves around the Ghats along the River Ganges where the bulk of the temples are located. From dawn to dusk a steady stream of devotees perform rituals. Every devout Hindu’s ambition is to visit Varanasi once in a lifetime and to bathe in the sacred river Ganges. For several thousand years, pilgrims have cleansed themselves of their sins here and sought release from the cycle of rebirth. The town itself is a maze of small streets and alleyways, hiding in disorderly array not less than a thousand temples and shrines.

Evening visit the Ghats of river Ganges and view aarti ceremony.

Day 07: In Varanasi

Early mornings we will take you to the Ghats of river Ganges. Take boat cruise to experience the magnificent scene of hundreds of devout pilgrims wading into the cool waters of the Ganges, just as they have every morning since ancient times. Some chant and pray, while others offer the holy water of the river to the rising sun. This is one of the most unforgettable experiences one can have.

After taking in these rituals from a boat in the river, we will disembark for a short walk through the buzzing, animated lanes of Varanasi’s old city. The bazaars in these narrow passageways cater to the millions of pilgrims who come here to worship Kashi Vishwanath, the patron deity of Varanasi. The gold-covered temple where the deity resides is closed to non-Hindus, but the lanes surrounding it are a fascinating mix of commerce and faith.

Then return to hotel for Breakfast

After breakfast continue your city tour of Varanasi: The city of Varanasi has long been a center for classical learning and culture. Visit Banaras Hindu University in the south of the city is perhaps the most prestigious university in India for philosophy and liberal arts. The Bharat Mata temple in the city testifies to Varanasi’s history as a center of India’s freedom movement. In this unique temple, consecrated to Mother India, a marble relief map of the Indian subcontinent is the focus of worship.

Later we will take you to Sarnath - 10 km from Varanasi – The Buddha preached his first sermon to five disciples in Sarnath. Today thousands of Buddhist pilgrims from around the world travel here to pay their respects. The Deer Park where Buddha preached is still dotted with ancient monuments. Visit the towering Dhamek Stupa that marks the location of a once resplendent monastery. The first monks settled this area in approximately the 3rd century B.C.
